Uses: It is used to flavour stir-fry dishes, soups and curries. Thai Basil is often added at the end of cooking so that the aromatic leaves balance the spices in the dishes. They are also commonly used in making Thai green curry paste.
It has a peppery and sweet aroma with a warm anise-liqourice taste.
Basil leaves bruise easily so when storing them in the refrigerator, use a plastic bag. The leaves can be stored for 2 to 3 days this way. Basil requires sun but place them in a sheltered area so that they can grow healthier.
